Brisbane is the well loved capital city of Queensland, and it famous for its culture, nightlife, dining, bars, clubs, shopping, and of course the CBD. The weather is sunny and idyllic, with mild winters and long summer days perfect for adventuring. A steady influx of residents from Sydney, Melbourne, and other areas in the southern states, largely due to property affordability and lifestyle factors, makes Brisbane and the surrounding areas a prime location for both property owners and investors.

The growing population has resulted in a demand for infrastructure, and there is one very exciting project on the horizon for Brisbane. So what’s coming up for this idyllic location in South East Queensland?

Brisbane Live

Entertainment precinct

Looking to transform the face of Brisbane CBD entertainment, Brisbane Live will accommodate 18,000 visitors in a huge entertainment arena complex with the demolition of the current Brisbane transit Centre and new train and bus lines making it even more accessible plus a pedestrian walkway. The project is looking to promote far more than just the $2 billion Brisbane Live arena itself, with a new public plaza, and opportunities for apartment buildings, commerce towers, dining precinct, medical and educational facilities in the surrounds.

Brisbane Live Arena

The arena itself is set to host more than 85 annual events, from music concerts to sporting events, and so much more. Set to completely transform Roma Street, there will be new underground railway systems and the addition of the new Cross River Underground Station freeing up space for future construction projects where the existing Roma Street railway lines exist. The arena is hoped to play a role in Brisbane’s bid for the 2032 Olympic Games, and is looking to create over 600 jobs for Brisbane residents.

The Walkable Precinct

The new walkable precinct will make accessing Brisbane Live even easier, linking The Barracks with King George Square and Queens Street Mall. Roma Street Parklands will become even more accessible, and cyclists will rejoice at the addition of new bike paths. There will be a large open space precinct for enjoying a coffee in the sunshine. Truly far more than just an arena, the Brisbane Live venue will be a complete indoor/outdoor experience drawing visitors from both interstate and overseas.

Implications for Property

Improvements to infrastructure in the Brisbane CBD and the creation of hundreds of jobs plus the improvements in public transport could create opportunities for a strengthening of the Brisbane property market with more demand for rental properties in easy reach of the venue, as well as a more general increase in the attractiveness of Brisbane as a location for those moving from interstate. The significant investment in infrastructure reflects the growth of the area, and demand for venues to accommodate this. The future of property in Brisbane and the surrounding areas is looking positive.
